The Paperbark Maple is hardier and more amenable to tough, urban conditions than the commonly-used Japanese Maples. Use as a specimen, a corner accent, as part of a grouping, or in the foreground of light-colored hardscape such as a stone wall. Avoid placing a Paperbark Maple in front of dark-colored masonry or the beautiful bark will be hidden by the background. Fresh snowfall especially accents the bark; situate the tree where it can be enjoyed in the winter landscape.
