Magnolia (Elizabeth)

Magnolia x ‘Elizabeth’

A very well mannered and adaptable medium-sized tree that that matures at about 40’ high and 25' wide. The flowers are very pleasing in a gentle sort of way. The foliage is sensational with its glossy, green color and bold texture. Prefers moist, well drained soil but will tolerate some drought.

This is one of the best Magnolias for seasonal interest and should be planted more often. Note that that the height is greater than the width making it a suitable medium-sized shade tree in contrast with most Magnolias that tend to have a shrubby appearance. Elizabeth is best planted alone as a specimen. In a neighborhood of fine-textured trees such as Maples, the bold texture of Elizabeth makes a great contrast.
