Fir

I've always admired this genus. All Firs have an erect, noble habit that's both formal in a dignified way, yet somehow blends admirably into a more relaxed landscape as well. The more I learn, the more enthusiastic I become about the possibilities of the genus Fir!
Firs are inclined to a more northerly distribution, and most native Firs do not do well in southern Pennsylvania. There are, however, some Asian Firs that are proving their mettle in the mid-Atlantic region. Take a look at the following pages and I know you'll find some options to get excited about!
